Carl S. Vineyard, P.E., was the original founder of GCI (Grace Consulting, Inc). Carl got his start in stack testing with Burns & McDonnell in 1975 while attending Missouri University where he earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from their Science & Technology school at Rolla in 1979. In 1983, he and a business partner left B&M and formed their own testing company, TSA (Total Source Analysis), settling in the town of Wellington near Cleveland, Ohio. The business grew to the point of catching the eyes of CT&E (Commercial Testing & Engineering) – a division of SGS (Societe Generale De Surveillance) – who acquired TSA in 1995 as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Carl continued to serve as TSA’s President, but also as CT&E’s Vice President of Engineering. In 2000, Carl and the majority of the crew chiefs and long-term testing employees left TSA/CT&E behind and formed GCI (Grace Consulting, Inc.), eventually returning the business to its previous prominent position as one of the Nation’s leading industrial air emissions testing companies. Carl has previously served as GCI’s President, CEO, Chairman, as well as V.P. of Quality Assurance, but currently consults with us as one of our Professional Engineers, licensed in Ohio, New York, and Texas.

Earning over 45-years of stack testing experience, Carl has gained the respect and admiration of the majority of his industry’s peers and customers. In 2007, he patented the multi-probe flow RATA program called Precision Flow©, utilizing the electronic flow measurement portions of Methods 2H and 2G, practically revolutionizing how flow is measured for many of GCI’s clients, reducing their overall pollutant measurements by as much as 8% in some cases. However, his proudest achievement may be the fact that he was able to work with his three children, Stephanie, Nathan, and Nick, who manage GCI’s Indianapolis (Plainfield), Indiana Field Office.
